Early 19th century hand-painted toleware tea caddy in tin with original yellow banding and red striping decoration. The box stands on small feet and retains its decorative hinged backplate and interior divider compartments used for storing tea. Surface shows honest age and wear with oxidation, paint loss, and interior rust consistent with antique toleware pieces. Key is no longer present. An article clipping from the 1982 Maine Antique Digest referencing a similar example is included and shown in the photos. A charming primitive folk art storage box that displays well and makes a nice early decorative tin example. Note: Missing the lid
