Not sure what this was used for Spittoon? Incense Holder? It is hand-made hammered copper with a decorative pattern cut out of the top. It has an old soldered repair on the bottom. There is a faint number engraved on the bottom. We purchased this at an estate sale at Lake Tahoe and were told the lady engraved all her valuables with this number.
