Up for bid is an unusual 19th C silver gravy ladle, possibly Canadian or Chinese Export Silver. The ladle is 7 1/8 inches long with a 2 ½ inch wide bowl and weighs 62 grams. The ladle has no drop, flared squared shoulders and a downturned fiddle handle as shown. The piece is engraved with a crude crest of a shirtless man. It is marked [?W][Animal][Plumes][S][Crown]. It resembles both Canadian and Chinese export marks, and could be one or the other or from another place entirely. It is not silverplated. Condition on the ladle is fairly good. The handle is a bit wavy, and there are some tool marks on the handle back from possible attempts to straighten it. There is heavy wear from use. A great mystery item, possibly valuable it if can be pinned down!
