This Japanese poetry/ stoneware vase has the aesthetic sense of the Japanese culture. The form is simple and the single sprig (rice?) painted in dark brown with bold strokes seems perfect for the shape. The artisan captures the beauty of nature. The water dropper is easy to lift and control and the spout is shaped to deliver the water with precision. The color pallet is warm like fall. It reminds me of Karatsu ware. Condition: excellent. Measurements: 4 1/4 inches wide x 2 inches tall approximately. Diameter 12 to 13 inches (with or without spout) Weight: 240 g. Or 8 oz Origin: Japan Circa: late 19th
