1799 English Sterling Silver Spoon with American Eagle? Measures about 4 7/8 inches long, weighs 17 grams plus. The bowl is very narrow, it might be a marrow spoon or a baby’s spoon, maybe a tasting spoon. Lion standard hallmark, date letter for 1799. Also a head of King George III and maker’s mark — GS. A bird engraved on the handle is reminiscent of the eagle design of early United States coinage (see photo of a 1794 silver dollar reverse), suggesting it might have been made for the US market. $8 shipping by insured mail. Will ship to US addresses only.
