The 1936 Indian Head (Buffalo) nickel was one of the last Buffalo nickels minted. 1938 was last year they were produced. It was minted during height and middle of the Great Depression with the rise of conflict abroad (Mussolini, Hitler, Franco). The coin was a reminder of the last vestiges of Americana on the frontier.
