A fine 19th-century Copeland (late Spode) porcelain comport or cake stand, dated November 1884, decorated in the celebrated “Pheasant” pattern (no. 2/2240 D). The Pheasant pattern (2240) was first recorded at Spode c.1816 and remained one of the factory’s most popular chinoiserie designs throughout the 19th century.
