When extended the leaf is supported by an uncommon fifth swinging gate leg. Both the tabletop and leaf have breadboard ends, crafted from large single planks of old-growth New England White Pine. The main board does have an old diagonal age split, but that’s not uncommon for a pine board of its age and size.
