Up for bid is an antique neoclassical brass or bronze candlestick with a dark brown patina. The piece is 10 ½ inches tall by 5 inches in diameter at the base, and the socket is 7/8 inch in diameter. It is made up of 7 parts, including the base, held together with a central threaded steel rod. It has rich neoclassical decoration with laurel swags and acanthus leaves. It has a dark brown patina, though the underside of the foot is almost silvery, like bell metal. There are no marks. Condition on the piece is fairly good. There is a small hole in the side of the socket and the piece is slightly bent, though not badly. There are a few minor bumps and bruises, and there is some wax stuck in the decoration. An attractive old candlestick!
