For sale is an antique P.O.D (for Post Office Department) brass button. In the middle of the coat button is a post rider, a mounted carrier galloping with mailbags on horseback below is P.O.D. The buttons is 7/8" Dia. with HORSTMANN BROS. & CO.* PHILA back mark. Reference: Similar to Alberts FD 62. Created for postal jackets circa 1873-1892. The button is in Fair condition with rust, discoloration, possibly from improper cleaning.
