Gorgeous Antique Georgian Solid Sterling Silver Sugar Tongs. King George III. Hallmarks are rubbed, but clear sterling silver lion mark, and makers mark for John Lambe. There is no date mark, but this version of John Lambe's mark was used between 1781-1789, giving us a rough age. Carter's antique guide describes John Lambe; "Lambe's work was highly sought-after by collectors and he was patronized by some of the most important families in Britain, including the Duke of Northumberland, and the Earl of Sandwich, the Duchess of Devonshire and Marquess of Rockingham. Lambe died in 1791 at the age of 53. Lambe's work remains highly prized by collectors" Weight 26.79g. Length 13cm aprox.
