Antique rawhide covered studded document lock box. Brass hardware. Lined with old newspaper dated 1843. Locking plate but no key. Leather is dry and cracked. Browned from decades of use and exposure to elements. Old repair has been done replacing one of the hinges. Hardware on the handle has been replaced. Underside has an added green felt mat. With a little effort the repairs can be modified to be more period correct. See photos for measurements.
