Ernst Deutsch, aka Richard Pottier, is a French director, born June 6, 1906 in Graz, Austria-Hungary and died on November 2, 1994 at Plessis-Bouchard. He was also scriptwriter, adapter, director of photography, and supervisor of the filmmaking. After dropping out of medical school, Richard Pottier made his debut in 1929 in German cinema as assistant directors Josef von Sternberg, on L'Ange Bleu, and Dimitri Buchowetzki. Then he is called to France to direct French versions of multilingual productions. He will do the rest of his career, taking, in 1934, his definitive pseudonym.
