Title of the map: "PLAN DE LA RADE DE GEDDA, située a la Côte d'Arabie sur la Mer Rouge" Large unusual copper engraved Sea Chart of Djeddah, in Saudi Arabia, by Jean-Baptiste D'Après de Mannevillette (1707-1780). This is a rare nautical map which shows the region of the port of Gedda, the fortifications around the town and the neighbouring mountains. It supplies detailed information on the coral reefs close to the coast, the navigation route leading to the port and the depths of the waters. The map scale is shown on the bottom right hand side. D'Après de Mannevillette becomes captain of the India Company and made maps of India and China. He published, under the title of Neptune Oriental (1745-1775), famous maps of this region.
