GLAMORGANENSIS COMITATUS; Vulgo GLAMORGAN SHIRE.' J Blaeu c.1646 Antique originalA very attractive and fine engraving hand coloured map of Glamorgan by Dutch cartographer Joan Blaeu. This is an original copperplate engraving printed in Amsterdam around 1646.The map is in very good condition and is decorated with a title cartouche, two coats of arms and a scale in English miles (Millaria Anglica). There is Dutch text to verso. (There were Dutch, German, French and Latin text versions)Dimensions. The map measures an overall 513mm high x 610mm wide.Condition:Wide margins on all sides. Laid paper in good condition overall with a whitish ivory look. Printing and colours strong and well defined. Very slight irregular trim lower vertical edges. Remnants of a mounting tape on top edge. Foxing to side margins mostly to lower half not affecting text or print. Text side has vertical fold as originally issued. Main image gives an indication how the map would appear once mounted and framed.
