Gorgeous pair of late 19th century panoramic marine watercolor paintings on boards, with metallic gold mats, one initialed "SMS" in the lower right corner, the other unsigned, both found together and clearly by the same artist, deriving from an estate in the Adirondacks of Northern New York. One measures 10.5" by 4 3/8", with total dimensions with bronzed wood frame 16.75" by 10.75"; the other measures 9.5" by 4.75", with total dimensions with bronzed wood frame 15.5" by 11 1/8". Beautiful watercolors with an unusual Modern sensibility for the time. Both in very good condition overall - art in excellent condition, with no dampstaining or tears, some light dirt underneath the glass, some light nicks to frame. Buyer to pay for item plus shipping.
