Old Fine Zulu Club - Knobkerry - South AfricaEarly to mid 20th century. Carved hard wood. Cm. 51,0 high (27.68″); grams 304,1 (31.50 oz.). This is an antique fighting and throwing club, also known as a knobkerrie. Typically they have a large knob at one end and can be used for throwing at animals in hunting or for clubbing an enemy's head. The name Knobkerrie derives from the African/Dutch word knop (meaning knot or ball) and the indigenous Nama/Khoekhoe word Kierie which means staff or walking stick. It is a famous and formidable weapon of the South African Zulu and the Xhosa tribes. This authentic knobkerrie has a beautiful brown patina and clear signs of wear and tear. cost21
