Large-format original antique color lithographed 1882 plat map of part of the city of Elizabeth, New Jersey, printed more than 140 years ago. It is drawn on a scale of 300 feet to one inch and labels streets, property owners, and other features on both sides of the Elizabeth River, in parts of Wards 1 and 8. The Perth Amboy & Elizabethport Railroad crosses over the river and across Bay Way, Fourth Avenue, and other streets, west of Staten Island Sound. Other details include the names of property owners and the boundary line with Linden Township. The map was published as Plate 38-39 in the Atlas of Union County, New Jersey, From Actual Surveys and Official Records, by E. Robinson, Nassau Street, New York, 1882. It is titled "Parts of Wards 1 & 8, City of Elizabeth, N.J.," and the image area measures a generous 46 x 73 cm [18" x 28¾"] Condition: This map is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with a vertical center fold, as issued, and no rips, tears, or writing.
