One of Weigel’s important contributions is his participation in the production of the "Atlas scholasticus et itinerarius", a comprehensive world atlas that was widely used in educational circles. He married the daughter of the eminent engraver and publisher Johann Christoph Lochner, who later integrated him into the artistic community of Nuremberg.
