Beautiful George III Solid Silver Wine Funnel, 2 Piece.Fully Hallmarked London, Date letter H 1803 By Peter, Ann & William Bateman, London No Monograms Or Personal EngravingsExcellent Antique Condition Silver Weight : 97.4 Grams Here we have a George lll, fine quality 2 piece solid silver large wine funnel, assayed in London 1803 making this wine funnel 221 year of age. Made by the highly skilled and probably the most well known of all English silversmiths whose work is highly regarded and very collectable. In 1800 Jonathan and Ann Bateman’s son William (l) joined into partnership with his mother and uncle Peter, registering the mark Peter Bateman, Ann Bateman and William (l) Bateman, Upon retirement of Ann Bateman, the new mark of Peter Bateman William (l) Bateman was registered. Fully Hallmarked in London 1803 and made by Peter, Ann and William Bateman. Hallmarks are stamped on the outer fitment of the large funnel dish and the outer smaller flange of the funnel. Read As,: Makers mark PB over AB over WB : ( Peter, Ann & William Bateman) : Lion Passant : London Crowned Assay : Date Letter H “ Duty Head stamp : All hallmarks are readable, please checkout photos. The quality of this wine funnel is excellent as you would expect from such a family of renowned silversmiths, wonderful gauge of silver used in its construction, beautifully shaped and this funnel still retains a stunning shine / gleam of solid silver. Condition Excellent antique Condition, with only light signs of use in keeping with its age, No dents or nasty scratches, both pieces are fully matching and fit together perfectly , no stretched joints or miss fitting attachment, will have some very light general wear & surface marks commensurate with age,Makers mark is a little rubbed ( the first two sets of initials are fine, last two letter WM are partial due to the location.
