This vintage Boye Needle Co. automatic screen/storm door check is a unique addition to any antique hardware collection. The device operates by air principle and has no springs or adjusting screws for added convenience. The gold color and metal material make it a standout piece in any architectural or garden setting. The package comes with the original box and a printed copy of the original instructions. Condition is New Old Stock with original box which is worn, torn and taped. This is not a door closer - it is a door check which keeps the door from slamming shut from the door spring. A great addition to vintage wooden screen doors as well as a conversation piece....surprisingly made by the Boye Needle Co. that began making sewing machine needles for the trade in 1905! The body of the unit is aluminum and measured 3 3/4" long by 1.27" in diameter. The hook and square piston rod are steel. The unit comes apart with a simple twist lock should the piston gasket need greased or replaced. The gasket installed is lubed and seals as it should. Store inventory #1407
